This is a JPEG encoding & decoding program of still image. It does not use level shifting. Discrete Cosine transform (DCT) is performed both by classical & Chen s Flowgraph methods. Predefined JPEG quantization array & zigzag order are used here. RUN - LEVEL coding is used instead of Huffman coding. Compression ratio is compared for each DCT method. Effect of coarse and fine quantization is also examined. The execution time of 2 DCT methods is also checked. In addition, most energatic DCT coefficients are also applied to examine the effect in MatLab 7.4.0 R2007a. Input is 9 gray scale pictures & output is 9*9=81 pictures to compare. Blocking effect is obvious.

Control-of-Multi-terminal-VSC-HVDC
Given these two interests for HVDC in the Norwegian offshore, the use of Multiterminal HVDC
(MTDC) is a potential solution for the integration of the wind farms and oil/gas platforms into the
onshore grid.
Control systems for multiterminal HVDC (MTDC) networks should be developed and their
operation be analyzed. First controllers for two-terminal HVDC connected to different types of AC
grids must be developed and analyzed. Then this must be extended to develop control of
multiterminal HVDC system. Models should be developed in PSCAD/EMTDC simulation software
and results should be analyzed to validated proposed control schemes.

Real-Coded-Genetic-Algorithm-for-Robust
Power system stabilizers (PSS) are now routinely used
in the industry to damp out power system oscillations. In this paper,
real-coded genetic algorithm (RCGA) optimization technique is
applied to design robust power system stabilizer for both singlemachine
infinite-bus (SMIB) and multi-machine power system. The
design problem of the proposed controller is formulated as an
optimization problem and RCGA is employed to search for optimal
controller parameters. By minimizing the time-domain based
objective function, in which the deviation in the oscillatory rotor
speed of the generator is involved stability performance of the
system is improved. The non-linear simulation results are presented
under wide range of operating conditions disturbances at different
locations as well as for various fault clearing sequences to show the
effectiveness and robustness of the proposed controller and their
ability to provide efficient damping of low frequency oscillations.
