MATLAB Tutorial
This tutorial is available as a supplement to the textbook Fundamentals of Signals and Systems Using
Matlab by Edward Kamen and Bonnie Heck, published by Prentice Hall. The tutorial covers basic
MATLAB commands that are used in introductory signals and systems analysis. It is meant to serve as
a quick way to learn MATLAB and a quick reference to the commands that are used in this textbook.
For more detailed information, the reader should consult the official MATLAB documentation. An
easy way to learn MATLAB is to sit down at a computer and follow along with the examples given in
this tutorial and the examples given in the textbook.

InputBuffer---
A buffer with 2 inputs and 2 outputs is implemented in this experiment.
The buffer has a buffer size k=6 cells for each input buffer, and arrival rate lambda, λ.
The Matlab software was used to make this buffer. Two 2*2 arrays were created as two for inputs and outputs, a 2*6 array is created as the body of buffer. This means the buffer can hold the 6 data from two sources and the buffer has two input ports and two outputs port.
However, it can only have one write or arrival for each input per slot time or cycle time and it can only have one read for each output per cycle time. We can only read out once per cell time from a given input buffer.(A buffer with 2 inputs and 2 outputs is implemented in this experiment.

Compressive sensing (CS) has been proposed for signals with sparsity
in a linear transform domain. We explore a signal dependent
unknown linear transform, namely the impulse response matrix operating
on a sparse excitation, as in the linear model of speech production,
for recovering compressive sensed speech. Since the linear
transform is signal dependent and unknown, unlike the standard
CS formulation, a codebook of transfer functions is proposed in a
matching pursuit (MP) framework for CS recovery. It is found that
MP is efficient and effective to recover CS encoded speech as well
as jointly estimate the linear model. Moderate number of CS measurements
and low order sparsity estimate will result in MP converge
to the same linear transform as direct VQ of the LP vector derived
the original signal. There is also high positive correlation between
signal domain approximation and CS measurement domain
approximation for a large variety of speech spectra.
