    Foreword The use of reprogrammable memory technology in vehicle electronic control units (ECUs) has increased in recent years, and is expected to continue in the future. Use of this technology has increased the flexibility of being able to use a single ECU hardware part to be used in many different vehicle configurations, with the only difference being the software and calibrations programmed into the unit.
