Hill climbing (HC) is one of the traditional and easy methods that is used in many applications including solar systems to track peak power due to its ease of implementation and low computational burden. The main disadvantage of this method is its relatively low accuracy in tracking the maximum power point under changing environmental conditions (variation of radiation intensity, temperature change and partial shading occurrence). The main objective of this research is to improve the performance of HC method under partial shading conditions using optimization algorithm. The type of converter used in this thesis is Boost Converter. Also, the PSO algorithm will be used to optimize MPPT control parameters. This algorithm has been used for fast convergence, easy implementation to optimize HC parameter control parameter.
