如今社会是科学技术及仪器设备发展的信息社会，电子科学技术的进步，给人们带来了根本性的转变，随着全球定位系统的不断改进，硬、软件的不断完善，应用领域正在不断地开拓，目前已遍及国民经济各种部门，并开始逐步深入人们的日常生活。GPS模块通过接收卫星的信息可以准确的记录受控终端的位置信息、速度信息、海拔高度等等。这些数据通过串行输入口把数据送给控制器处理，控制器把处理好的数据转换成固定格式的数据，通过串行输出口送给手机模块发送给监控终端。报告受控终端的位置信息。本系统基于SIM900的GPS定位系统，具有一定的实时性，非常适合用于车辆或大型设备的的定位、数据反馈和远程监控。
