图像压缩是数据压缩的数字图像的应用程序。在效果上，目的是为了减少图像数据的冗余，以便能够存储或传送数据以有效形式[1]。数据压缩已经成为在不同领域，如计算机科学，信息技术，通信，医药等行业在计算机科学中大多数应用需求，数据压缩被定义为科学或代表在一个紧凑的形式的信息的艺术[2]。数字图像压缩技术可分为两类：无损和有损压缩。目前的数据压缩的两个基本类别被应用于不同的领域。在无损压缩，这是最初的图像中每一个像素仍然是相同的图像解压缩后。所有的信息被完全存储。有损压缩通过永久消除一些冗余信息减少图像的尺寸。重构的图像中包含的降解到原始图像。
