库存控制系统是一个用于管理和定位对象或材料的过程。在共同使用，术语可能也指只是软件组件。
现代库存控制系统往往依赖条形码和无线射频识别 （RFID） 标签，提供库存对象的自动识别。库存对象可能包括任何种类的实物资产： 商品、 消耗品、 固定资产、 循环工具、 图书馆的书籍或资本设备。若要记录的库存交易记录，该系统使用条码扫描仪或RFID 阅读器自动识别库存对象，，然后从运营商通过固定的终端 （工作站） 或移动计算机收集的其他信息。
